It is also known as the Crab Nebula.It is approximately 5,000 lightyears away from earth.
This gas nebula is made of the remnants of a supernova explosion about 1000 years ago. After this huge explosion, it is expanding at a rate of about 1500 km/h (930 miles per second), which is about 0.5% the speed of light.
